Born in Richmond Virginia Michael started to play piano at an early age. Music was a part of his family heritage. His mother (Marie) was a vocalist and pianist who, as a teenager, sang on live radio shows. Later she became a faithful member of the church choir. Michael’s grandmother was a violinist, great grandfather was a violinist (with his group the ‘D. E. Bowling String Band’), and his cousin was a band director.

Michael studied piano under Melissa Wuslich Marrion at Virginia Commonwealth University where he got his bachelor’s in Music Education with a major in piano. In the early eighties Michael moved to Texas where he played in a number of musical groups and collaborated with his good friend and drummer Robbie Parrish. During this time he was offered a job with the country artist Betty Martin who’s song ”Don’t You Feel It Now” had made it onto the Billboard charts.

After touring with the Betty Martin show, and longing for the ocean, Michael moved to southern California where he surfed and returned to school (California State University Dominguez Hills) to get a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science.

In 2012 Michael founded A Golden Voice Studio, recording studio which is located in Long Beach, CA. Currently he manages A Golden Voice Studio and composes music in his spare time. Three recent ochestral compositions are listed under the ‘Music’ page of this site.
